It was so nice to hear Christian. When it comes to languages, I like radical solutions. And Christian introduced such. Children learn English at school for many years (and a second language as well) and the effects of this learning are meager. Why do we not care about change? That's a good question, please do next ...
My older son in the last class of the primary school wasn't able to create a simple sentence in English. After eight years of learning it! The situation was very tense and grave because he had the examination after primary school. We had only 8 months to improve his command of English. We started to learn every day for 15 minutes. Only for 15 minutes. Effect? Antek passed the examination without any problems (he got 85%). After this intensive learning he was able to listen podcast, films and programmes which were interested for him (on YouTube) and now he has no problems with this language. Actually it is not a true. He has problems because level of the English in his secondary school is quite low. He is in advanced group but his teacher very seldom speaks English!
During my study at university I decided to learn French. I had one French lesson per week for 4 years. It was an absurd! When I was taking the examination from literature of XIX century the examinator noticed 5 from French in my index and started speaking French to me. Unfortunately I didn't understand a word. I should have 4 French lessons per week for one year. I would get the knowlegde and I could do with it something. Four years of learning was a waste of time and money. But nobody wanted to change this situation...
